Accessibility Statement

The Northern Utah Environmental Resource Agency (NUERA) is committed to ensuring that this website is accessible to people with disabilities. We are continually improving the experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards.

Conformance status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. They define three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA and Level AAA.

This website is designed and tested to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA, the standard adopted for state and local government websites under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Automated testing across all public pages currently reports no violations. Manual review of keyboard navigation, screen-reader behaviour and small-screen reflow is ongoing, and we do not claim that every page is free of every barrier.

Accessibility features

  • Keyboard navigation: all menus, forms and interactive elements can be operated with the Tab key.
  • Skip to main content: a skip link is the first item on every page for screen reader and keyboard users.
  • Visible focus: every focusable element shows a clear focus outline.
  • Colour contrast: text and interface colours are tested against the WCAG AA contrast ratios.
  • Alternative text: images that carry meaning have descriptive alternative text.
  • Resizable text: the site remains usable when text is enlarged or the browser is zoomed.

Alternative formats

If any document or page on this site is not accessible to you, we will provide the information in another format — including large print, plain text or spoken word — at no cost. Contact us using the details below and tell us what you need and the page or document involved.
